The Tripsy Tipsy Gypsies are none other than Pete Hawkes (acoustic guitar, vocals), George Washingmachine (fiddle) and Christian Marsh (harmonica), three seasoned international players at the height of their powers joining forces to showcase the compositional talent of Pete’s original jazz, blues, folk and Celtic music in one and only one Oz tour.
Be prepared for an onslaught in lilting Gypsy jazz fiddle, thundering Celtic reels, wailing blues harmonia and sizzling slide as these three wield their instruments of mass distraction together for the first time as one united force.
This is a unique combination, and even though each player has toured the globe they have not until now united together and possibly they will never again. A one time opportunity to see three legends (and more) playing a rich, evocative, diverse palette of original music cooked up and served hot!
This is must see for every real music lover!
“All you need to do, Christian, is keep playing like you do and don’t let anyone tell you any different” - Larry Adler
“George’s musical range spans toe‑tapping gypsy jazz and soulful blues, and he also showcases talents on guitar and double bass. Internationally acclaimed, he’s toured Europe, Cuba, New Zealand, the UK and the US, appearing at major festivals including Havana Jazz and Sydney’s renowned venues “
"A composer with the ability to transcend several musical genres and yet stay firmly focused within his own perceived sound. The word 'genius' I have always reserved for the greats like Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, Richard Thompson and Louie Armstrong, but given the diversity, variation, number of musical genres, and the prolific number of high quality, original compositions of all styles of music Pete has put out, and continues to produce every year, not to mention a back catalogue of finely crafted original songs (that always have something unique to say about the human condition), it's hard not to use the word for him here as well. If he is not a genius then he is certainly one of Australia's most creative and interesting composers for acoustic music to emerge in the last decade" - Tony Bates ..Musicologist/Reviewer' Station Librarian /Presenter 3WBC 94.1FM
